Frequently Asked Questions
Below you'll find answers to the most common questions you may have for The Connect Movement Therapy Team. If these don't answer your questions, please feel free to contact us and we will be in touch!
Connect Movement Therapy is a neurodevelopmental therapy service that helps children and families by strengthening the connection between brain and body. We focus on movement, reflexes, sensory–motor development, and nervous system regulation to support learning, behaviour, and daily function.
Unlike traditional therapy that may focus only on one area (e.g. physio, OT, or psychology), Connect Movement Therapy takes a whole-child, brain–body approach. We look at how primitive reflexes, movement, sensory processing, and regulation interact — then design personalised sessions that complement the work of medical and allied health teams.
Yes. CMT provides services that may be funded under Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living and Social & Community Participation categories of NDIS plans, depending on individual goals and eligibility.
Families who are self-managed or plan-managed can usually claim Connect Movement Therapy services. We provide invoices with the correct NDIS line items for your plan manager.
Yes. We provide detailed therapy reports, progress updates, and functional observations in NDIS-appropriate language. We also collaborate with support coordinators and specialists to ensure our input fits within a multidisciplinary plan.
We work with children and young people of all ages, from toddlers to teens and occasionally with adults who have complex neurological or developmental conditions.
Yes. For some children, intensive therapy blocks (multiple sessions across consecutive days) produce rapid progress. We also provide structured home programs to extend gains between intensives.
Our services are billed according to session length (usually 90 minutes in-clinic, or as agreed for intensives and remote programs). Full invoices are provided for NDIS and private funding.
We combine in-clinic sessions, personalised home programs, regular parent coaching, and collaboration with other health professionals. Families also have access to check-ins and tailored resources to help therapy carry over into daily life.
Sessions are delivered at our Robina clinic on the Gold Coast. We also provide remote programs for families interstate or overseas via video conferencing and digital resources.
Yes. Many of our families include children on the autism spectrum who experience regulation challenges such as meltdowns, sensory sensitivities, or anxiety. We focus on calming the nervous system, improving sensory–motor integration, and building pathways for more confident learning and social engagement.
Yes, where safe and appropriate. For complex conditions, we collaborate with specialists (e.g. orthotists, neurologists, GPs, geneticists) to ensure therapy complements medical care. We work within scope, providing movement-based and neurodevelopmental support.
Low tone often affects posture, balance, and stamina. Through targeted movement, reflex integration, and core stability work, we help children strengthen their postural foundation — making daily activities easier and less tiring.
This varies for each child. Some families notice changes in regulation and behaviour within a few weeks, while others see gradual gains across several months. Consistency (clinic + home program) is key to lasting progress.
It begins with a Discovery Call. From there, we book an Initial Assessment and design a personalised therapy plan. You can enquire via our Contact us page to arrange an initial consultation. We will discuss your needs and recommend a plan suited to your goals.
Connect Movement Therapy (CMT) works in the space between diagnosis and daily function. We complement, rather than replace, allied and medical services. Our role is to:
- Observe and document functional patterns (tone, reflexes, sensory–motor integration, cranial nerve function, regulation).
- Translate these into therapy programs that families can embed in daily life.
- Highlight when further medical investigation is required (e.g. genetic, gastro, immunology, neurology).
We maintain communication with specialists, ensuring therapy is coordinated, not siloed.
